Polity - Our Church Government
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A)'s local governing body is the Session. Each church associated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A) has a Session that oversees and coordinates the operations of the church.
The Session of Church of the New Covenant consists of 9 Ruling Elders plus the pastor, who serves as moderator. There are three classes of three elders. Each elder serves for three years. Church of the New Covenant has a tradition of including youth in the government of the church. Every year the church elects a Youth Elder, who serves a term of one year.

Administration - Session Contacts: Bill Bower, Scott Holton & Richard Russ
The Administration Committee's responsibilities include the oversight of the financial business of the church and guidance of the congregation in responsible stewardship of church resources and the world in which we live. It also encourages the discovery and application of the many talents and abilities of the members. The committee fulfills this role by coordinating the budget and routine financial transactions, by encouraging good stewardship practices of both financial and physical resources, and by seeking deeper personal commitment as a response to God's grace. The committee is also responsible for managing church personnel & for managing the maintenance of our church buildings.
Fellowship - Session Contact(s): Nancy Meinersmann
Sharing fellowship and friendship in good times and bad affirms our conviction in the goodness of life created and sustained by God. Fellowship activities are designed to enhance the congregation's sense of belonging.
Witness - Session Contact(s): Suzanne Holton, Curt Schroeder
The Witness Committee coordinates the ways our congregation actively shares the good news of God's love for all through following Christ's example of reaching out to others in service. We are involved in Clifton Sanctuary Ministries and the Six Star Refugee program. Currently, we are exploring the possibility of sponsoring a Boy Scout troop and of training to become a safe haven for supervised visits between foster children and their birth parents.
Spiritual Growth - Session Contact(s): Jeannie Jones
The Spiritual Growth Committee ensures that there are teachers for all classes offered by Church of the New Covenant. They offer interesting and diverse classes for all ages ranging from Bible study to spiritual growth to social justice. They are also responsible for our Youth Group and Young Adults group.
Worship - Session Contact(s): Gretchen Turner, Ashley DeVore
Worship of God is the heart of Church of the New Covenant. This is one of the most exciting aspects of our congregational life together and this committee works tirelessly to make sure that the worship services are inspiring and fulfilling experiences to the glory of God. Lay readers assist the minister with the liturgy. We usually follow the Revised Common Lectionary for our scripture lessons. When Brian Wren, Professor of Worship and Music at Columbia Theological Seminary, attended worship at Church of the New Covenant he remarked afterward that we have "the best traditional worship in Atlanta."
